Gingerbread Fun

These were made the last day before break.  My sweeties took a long time to decide exactly what pieces to glue on their houses!

 We did some graphing too.  At the top is my graph of our results, but all the kids made one too.

1st 20 Days in Kindergarten

This is a way to introduce important literacy concepts in K. I love it because it is very thorough. I found it online somewhere, so let me know if you know who to give the credit to!

Target Sales

Last night, I read a lot of different blogs about the great teacher items at Target. Today I had to go and see what I could find!

I bought all this(...15 comp books total, the picture only shows 3...) for $36! I am going to link this up to (click on it) Ladybug's Teacher Files, where I laughed so hard last night at her description of "teacher-shoppers", I just had to share it with all of you. But, she outed me. Now my family knows I have ulterior motives when shopping...of course, today kind of blew my cover when I brought in all those Target bags!

Math Stations: Ch. 7- Geometry

I have been getting a jumpstart on Chapter 7 by creating a 3-D/ 2-D Shape Unit on TPT.  I was looking to make something with the 3-D shapes for K-1, but I added 2-D shape activities too. I also added Does it roll/slide?, shape homework, shape snack, and a book list.
Also, while I was reading the blogs for Chapter 6, I ran into this GREAT song for shapes: {Song on Youtube}
If you want to check out my *new* TPT unit:  {Shapes Unit}
Plus, another freebie online can be found here: {Pattern Block designs}

Chapter 6: Math Stations

Freebie-Mystery Number sheet
I made this to go with the activity on page 152 for kindergartners. I tried loading it into google docs, but it wouldn't keep my original font or border. SO Strange! So it is now a freebie on TPT!

Check out the Math Stations Linky Party here this week: {Oceans of First Grade Fun}

Math Stations Chapter 5: Addition and Subtraction

Well, for years I've had those theme-related mini erasers and the mats. I guess now I have a great motivation to get them out!
Here is a picture that I found on the web somewhere(let me know if you know where it came from) that I thought was really good for addition with dominos. I also have a similar chart for only counting those mini erasers, with numbers 1-12 across the top and each column one inch wide, on a  12 x 18 piece of construction paper. Visit Primary Graffiti for more about Chapter Five: {}.

Math Stations Chapter 4

Wow Fran did a great job! I would love to be a fly on her wall say something more or post a great idea, but I am overwhelmed with ideas! However, this "beginning concept" area is the hardest for me. I have been spending oodles of time here though:
{ }  for some great  super easy ideas.  It is hard to go to these lower skills for some of the kids who need it, especially when you have a broad range of kids. It seems like they come in at the higher levels, or so it seems.  But I know that they may not really have the concept of number sense just because they know the numbers.  I really want to focus on these concepts this year!

After a lesson on symmetry, we used some foam pieces and ripped paper for butterflies. The purple one makes me smile. It looks like the butterfly has a butterfly for his mouth!

Ocean Freebie

Well, we are just finishing up units on Fairy Tales and Reptiles. I hope to post some pictures soon! We are starting Farm, Ocean and maybe Insects if we can squeeze it in at the end. I forgot I made this awhile ago for the kiddos, and I thought it would be a great freebie to share. I modified an older one I had into this one, so this one hasn't been technically "classroom-approved" yet, but I think it will do. :)
