Frosting Trick....

I know this isn't a real "teaching idea", but I just couldn't help myself! This is really a smart idea! I wish I had known about this when I attempted to use frosting many  a few times!

It's Farm Week

Finally, the farm pictures! We have been doing farm for about 2weeks, with a field trip to the farm also.
Each day we read facts about each animal, then added what we learned to our bulletin boards.

Reptiles and Mother's Day

Here are the reptile things from weeks ago, and a pretty bouquet someone sweet gave to me for Mother's Day...
This is a cute little picture I hang up every year. A student made it for me(she is now in 10th grade!?)
A retired teacher made the illustration page, rebus-style. The kids love to learn about reptiles!

Yes, the turtles were made with paper plates. Some years we staple the pages and make books too.
The alligator is supposed to be an accordion-type book, but I just like reading/writing the facts, so I don't try to fold them with glue on them!

The frog is also a paper plate. I like the frog the best. Even the poster is precious! We sometimes use the frog for "Five Green and Speckled frogs" and do subtraction with them.
Happy Mother's Day! (and yes, it is another paper plate...hmmm....)

Reading Homework

I made these up to send home for homework, and I keep forgetting to post the pictures! I wanted some homework that would focus on the new Common Standards and show the parents "why" we are doing these things. These were a few I snapped:

I think it is so funny that he wrote about Santa in April. But as long as they will read, anything goes!

I love the sweat flying off the worm!  Find the set of these at http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Homework-for-Common-Core-Reading-Standards-for-Kindergarten. :)

Ocean Animals FREEBIE

Well, we are just finishing up units on Fairy Tales and Reptiles. I hope to post some pictures soon! We are starting Farm, Ocean and maybe Insects if we can squeeze it in at the end. I forgot I made this awhile ago for the kiddos, and I thought it would be a great freebie to share. I modified an older one I had into this one, so this one hasn't been technically "classroom-approved" yet, but I think it will do. :)

Easter Centers and freebies!

Here are a bunch of centers we are doing this week or did before:
 Matching sets to Numbers

Putting in the missing numbers

Roll the die and put the clothes on the boy or girl bunny

We also are playing "Pin the tail on the bunny" using cotton balls!----no picture of that

This will be our bunny baskets...for our goodies!

Draw a Bunny...this is from Mailbox magazine. They roll a die and draw what they land on.
Sooo cute!

For this activity we put magnetic letters in an egg with small toys for the kids to write and draw.
We used only CVC words. Here is the recording sheet for this...it is so simple to make!

We made these yummy cupcakes (with parent helpers!) last year.
I put the parent note for the supplies to be donated on TPT. (We used pretzel sticks for whiskers and skipped the small marshmallows though) Click here for the note! I noticed the font was strange in the thumbnail preview...it looks like script?!
